The ensemble featuring Christine Busch (baroque violin), Kristin von der Goltz (baroque cello), Veronika Braß (harpsichord), and Andrea Cordula Baur (lute & theorbo) explores this question through works by Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, Francesca Caccini, Louis Couperin, Georg Philipp Telemann, Joseph Dall’Abaco, and Johann Sebastian Bach. At the center is the baroque theory of affects – the art of making emotions audible through specific musical "gestures." This creates soundscapes that bring pain, hope, tenderness, or astonishment to life right in the concert hall.
