The sensational harmonica/accordion star WILL POUND has been convinced to go on tour once again. He is very busy, still invited to recording sessions with big names like Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, and others, and his nimble fingers are involved in numerous projects, whether in the Scottish/British or Irish scene, or with his latest project, where he managed to collaborate with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. His extensive work is documented on 6 CDs so far. This time, he is joined by the very fine guitarist/singer MARTY BARRY from Ireland, also a familiar face on tours.
HEATHER CARTWRIGHT & SAM MABBETT & MADELEINE STEWART (UK)
The second ensemble is led by the young, brilliant English accordion guru SAM MABBETT, who has been living in Glasgow for 8 years. SAM originally comes from the British Morris Dance scene but expanded his Celtic repertoire at a very young age and made it to the finals of the “BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician” Awards in 2023. He is joined by the wonderful guitarist/singer HEATHER CARTWRIGHT from Cumbria, who also got stuck in Glasgow and is both a sought-after accompanist and a shining star in the Scottish scene with her wonderful solo work and original songs from the Lake District. Last year, she delivered the spectacularly celebrated opening act on the entire CHRIS DREVER tour. The essence of this trio is provided by the violinist MADELEINE STEWART from New Hampshire, who moved to Glasgow in 2014 to study music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating with a BMus (Hons) in Traditional Music. MADELEINE also reached the finals of the “BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician” Awards in 2023, and her own trio was nominated for the MG Alba Scottish Music Awards. She has performed multiple times at festivals like Celtic Connections or Celtic Colours and has toured in America, the UK, and Europe.
