Guided tour of the Hesse Museum Gaienhofen

Museum tour through the exhibition on Hermann Hesse's life and work "Gaienhofener Umwege. Hermann Hesse and his first house." Every Saturday from May 3rd to October 4th, 2025. Registration is desired, phone: 07735/440949, email: hesse-museum@gaienhofen.de. The permanent exhibition highlights the life and work of the Nobel Prize-winning author Hermann Hesse. The young writer settled in Gaienhofen in 1904, freshly married. The small farmhouse that he rented with his wife Mia until 1907 was centrally located in what was then the village center, opposite the Mauritius Chapel. After the birth of their three sons, the family moved into their own house with a garden in the Erlenloh area in 1912. Today, the Hesse Museum Gaienhofen is located in the first rented residence. The museum also includes another building, the former school and town hall of Gaienhofen, where the artistic and literary landscape of the Höri region, as well as special exhibitions, are presented. The tour concludes delightfully with coffee and cake.
