This year's Christmas tin casting allows participants to cast various Christmas ornaments under the guidance of experienced tin casters. The tradition of tin casting, especially during the Christmas season, dates back a long way and has its roots in ancient crafts that have been preserved across many regions of Europe for generations. Tin, a malleable metal, has been used since the Middle Ages for the production of dishes, jewelry, and decorative objects. The Weygang Museum lovingly preserves this tradition. During the Advent season, it is a special experience to create one's own small artworks such as angels, stars, Christmas trees, or other festive motifs that not only adorn the Christmas tree but are often given as special gifts. The atmosphere of tin casting is characterized by craftsmanship, patience, and a certain magic. When the liquid tin is poured into the molds and cools into solid, silver-glossy Christmas ornaments after a short time, visitors are amazed every time. This tradition combines craftsmanship with festive customs and creates memories that are passed down from generation to generation. Even though the Weygang Museum is currently closed to the public, the dedicated volunteers and the support association of the Weygang Museum do not want to forgo the traditional Christmas tin casting. The museum café in the foyer invites visitors to linger, and there is also a crafting program for children.
