With plenty of music, dancing, and a bulldog/tractor parade, Bernau is celebrating the 78th Hans-Thoma Festival. **The Program for the 2026 Hans-Thoma Festival** **Saturday, August 8, 2026:** 7:00 PM: **Festival Kickoff**: Barrel tapping with Mayor Alexander Schönemann and the **Traditional Folk Evening** featuring the Bernau-Außertal Traditional Band, the Bernau Folk Group and their youth jazz dance troupe, as well as the Marlen Folk Association. Starting around 8:30 p.m.: **Party night with the DORFROCKERN** (Advance tickets available at www.hans-thoma-fest.de or at the Bernau Tourist Information Office)** **Sunday, August 9, 2026:** 9:15 a.m.: **Joint procession** from the spa gardens to the church 9:30 a.m.: **Ecumenical service** with the church choir at St. Johann Parish Church 10:30 a.m.: **NaturEnergie Award Ceremony for Simone Litschka**, featuring the Bernau Traditional Costume Associations in the spa park. Followed by **exhibition opening and vernissage** at the Hans Thoma Art Museum. 11:00 a.m.: **Morning beer concert** with the **Senior Brass Band of the Upper Black Forest** in the festival tent 1:30 p.m.: **Hans Thoma Birthplace** in the Oberlehen district opens 2:00 p.m.: **Bulldog and Tractor Parade** followed by **"Bernau Musics"** in the festival tent **Monday, August 10, 2026:** 11:30 a.m.: **Fire Station Open House** (until 2:00 p.m.) 2:00 p.m.: **Children’s Afternoon** in the festival tent 4:00 p.m.: **Craftsmen’s Get-Together** 6:30 p.m.: Festival finale with the band **Blasmusikfieber**
