"Ambros pur – the Sixth" presents Wolfgang Ambros unplugged: acoustic, reduced, and authentic. With his team, he brings classics and new songs to the stage in a timeless, harmonious way. A musical experience full of passion and intimacy. When timelessness shows the zeitgeist the door... Ambros pur the Sixth Unplugged, acoustic, reduced... Ambros pur! has been consistently successful for over ten years. Full houses, a direct connection to the audience, the songs presented in a stripped-down manner, and a Wolfgang Ambros who clearly feels at ease in this setting. "It's fun to play this way, and as you get older, you don't want it to be so loud anymore," he says. A classic Ambros pur statement. Just like the person, the artist, the songs, and the show. Unvarnished, authentic, and now timeless. It is commendable that Wolfgang Ambros does not try to hide the aging process for even a second. The rock 'n' roller who once filled the Vienna Stadthalle to the brim has become the singer-songwriter who gives his songs a framework that only classics deserve. Wolfgang sits on a stool, talks, plays, and sings. And it is simply wonderful to watch and listen to him. For the sixth time, Ambros is now on tour "pur." He started back in the day with his longtime friend, keyboardist Günter Dzikowski, as a duo. Wolfgang on guitar, Günter on the keys. The two from Number One. For the past year and a half, they have been a trio. Roland "Roli" Vogel enriches the arrangements with his guitar, bass, ukulele, and whatever else he plucks, strikes, or brushes during the program on stage. From the very first pur! gig, Ambros has drawn from his rich repertoire. This means songs from 1971 to current titles. A journey through time that doesn’t feel like one for a second. Although some songs are over forty years old, the age differences between the songs are not noticeable. Wolfgang's characteristic voice, the reduced arrangements, the moderation, meaning the stories between the songs, and the evident joy of playing that the three gentlemen display time and again... that is Ambros pur. Humorous, harmonious, melancholic, and wonderfully Austrian. Instead of being trendy, Wolfgang Ambros' songs, sung and played in this trio configuration, have reached a level that only truly great songs can ever achieve: Timelessness! Good yesterday, good today, and good tomorrow – nothing fades, nothing gets lost in the fog of time. The Central Cemetery celebrates as it once did, hopelessness remains hopeless – even in the 21st century, and while you can no longer smoke in espresso bars, everything else is just like it was back then. Wolfgang Ambros does not reinvent himself. He is as he was, as he is. In his own direct and intense way. For each pur! tour, he pulls pearls from his collection and adds them to the program. There are those songs that simply cannot be missed. "The people sing along," he says, and this joy of reconnecting with familiar songs should not be taken away from the people. Songs have become friends, others old acquaintances that one hasn’t seen in a long time. And when Wolfgang strips these songs down to their bare bones and then, together with Günter and Roli, re-dresses them with great sensitivity, there’s no need to worry about Bettina either. She, just like Mr. Ambros, has arrived well in the new millennium. In 2003, Wolfgang Ambros sang "Oid wurdn." Fifteen years have passed since then. So what? Maybe it’s not as loud anymore. That’s good. Pur the Fifth will be just as good, earthy, unwrapped, and musically intricate as the Fourth, the Third, the Second, and the First. The audience and critics have responded enthusiastically to the previous Ambros pur! evenings; when else do you get the chance to be so close to a giant of the local pop music scene like Wolfgang Ambros and his songs, many of which have long since become folk songs of a different kind?
