Secrets (DSE)

Fabien is actually looking forward to the most beautiful evening of the year. Together with his best friends, the twins Eric and Jérôme, he wants to watch the final of the French Open and enjoy 2-3 bottles of wine, as per their good old tradition. However, Eric shows up an hour early because he urgently wants to speak to Fabien alone to confide in him a secret. This secret, he announces, will fundamentally change not only his life but also that of his twin brother and his wife Juliette. According to a Chinese proverb, "The safest secret is the one you never tell anyone." Fabien senses that he will get into a deep moral conflict and asks Eric to keep everything to himself. But his friend cannot be stopped; he spills everything out before quickly disappearing, as he absolutely does not want to encounter his brother. However, a secret rarely comes alone. Shortly after, Jérôme arrives earlier than agreed to share something confidential of great significance with Fabien as well. Bound by a friendship oath to keep silent, Fabien tries to preserve the secrets, find a way out of the dilemma, and persuade the brothers to finally confront each other openly. "Secrets" by Sébastien Blanc is a chamber play comedy with intricate timing about lies and truths, rivalry and loyalty among friends—and brothers. The play offers standout roles for two actors.
