The Torchlight Procession in Calw

To mark the 950th anniversary of the town of Calw, the Black Forest Association is reviving the "Calw Torchlight Procession" and looks forward to welcoming numerous participants. The torchlight procession is an ancient custom in Calw. The Calw Black Forest Association organized this unique spectacle as early as 1909. At nightfall, the male schoolchildren gathered on the mighty Hohen Fels. There, the torches were lit by a fire and, as the evening bells rang, a large procession formed, which then marched to Brühl, waving torches and cheering, where the torches were burned in a pile. Anyone who wants to witness this spectacle should meet at Calw Town Hall at 5:30 p.m. on November 7. Together, we will hike to the Hohen Fels, where the torches will be lit. Then we will walk together in a large arc through the Calw Forest to Brühl, where a big surprise awaits everyone at a mighty fire. Of course, unlike in the old days, not only male schoolchildren are invited to this exciting event, but anyone who wants to have fun.
