Whether you take part in the hands-on program, explore together or on your own with the museum app, visit the fisherman's house in the permanent exhibition or the restaurant, the houses or the grounds – on Saturdays in summer, the Farmhouse Museum is the place to spend a pleasant day with the family. There is something for everyone, young and old alike. The Allgäu-Oberschwaben Farmhouse Museum in Wolfegg, in the heart of Upper Swabia, is particularly suitable for family outings. Here you can experience history in a variety of ways – in the historic farmhouses and exhibitions, on exciting guided tours and through hands-on activities.
In the 28 faithfully furnished rooms, chambers, and stables, you can experience rural life, customs, and traditions of centuries past. The buildings are nestled in a carefully maintained cultural landscape: farm gardens with old, almost forgotten vegetable varieties, native flowers and herbs, as well as species-rich meadows, pastures, and orchards that invite you to take a walk across the extensive grounds. Children especially love our many animals—chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, free-range geese, and of course the Allgäu Brown cattle in the pastures.
A special highlight is the new, inclusive playground on the museum grounds. Children of all ages can play and romp to their hearts' content here. High-quality play equipment made of robinia and larch wood, such as the climbing tractor and the hay cart, invite children to climb and explore. Particularly exciting are the indoor play barn with "jucken ins Heu" (itching in the hay) and the climbing stones with a "robber's hole" to hide in. The playground is barrier-free, so children with and without disabilities can play together.
