The melody and sound language have a folk-like and approachable quality. At the age of 19, Franz Schubert composed his 5th Symphony in 1816, a slender, transparent work of great liveliness and lightness. It is considered the most perfect of Schubert's earlier symphonies and an engagement with the art of Mozart.
