ORGAN CONCERT - 100 Years of Gebr. Späth Organ

Sebastian Küchler-Blessing, once the youngest cathedral organist in Germany, performs internationally and teaches organ at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. At the age of two and a half, the Essen cathedral organist Sebastian Küchler-Blessing discovered his love for the organ. While still a student, he was appointed as the youngest cathedral organist in Germany at the cathedral church of the Ruhr diocese, where he developed a rich musical life at the cathedral organ. He has been invited back to concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, and Konzerthaus Dortmund, as well as cathedrals like Freiburg Minster, Cologne Cathedral, and Mainz Cathedral, and to major classical festivals. In 2024, he performed at Brucknerhaus Linz, Thomaskirche Leipzig, and in a double concert with pianist Severin von Eckardstein, which featured improvisation, at the Essen Philharmonic. Highly regarded as an improviser, Küchler-Blessing is a prizewinner of the Leipzig Bach Competition, has won the Mendelssohn Prize, and the 1st prize at the International Organ Week in Nuremberg. He has also received the audience award at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and the Arthur-Waser Prize from the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. Sebastian Küchler-Blessing teaches organ and liturgical organ playing/improvisation at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. He has taught at universities in Freiburg and, as a guest, in St. Petersburg and Leipzig. Küchler-Blessing is an expert in organ matters. Masterclasses and serving as a juror at international competitions complement his work. Trained by Sontraud Speidel, Christoph Bossert, Martin Schmeding, and Zsigmond Szathmáry, he has received support from numerous foundations, including the German National Academic Foundation while still a student.
