Kabinett – this is energetic indie rock from Mannheim, which has been creating fresh soundscapes since the end of 2019. Originally started with the aim of combining electronically influenced indie pop with synthesizers, a multifaceted sound quickly developed, incorporating elements of funk, disco, and rock. A central trademark: the distinctive, smoky vocals of frontman Josê Sommer, complemented by harmonious, multi-part backing from the entire band. Musically, powerful synth pads, rhythmically striking bass lines, intricate drums, and varied guitar riffs come together – sometimes atmospheric and experimental, sometimes direct and danceable. Their musical signature is reminiscent of greats like Foals, Mando Diao, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, De Staat, or Nothing But Thieves – yet Kabinett remains unique. The quintet is currently working on new material and preparing live shows for 2025 – with plenty of energy and even more sonic diversity.
