Vaihingen's Citizen Gardens

A tour with Andreas Schuller Old Vaihingen has much more to offer than walls, towers, and half-timbered houses! Right outside the gates of the medieval town, a unique cultural landscape has developed over the centuries: the Vaihingen citizen gardens. The tour focuses on the former city garden at Egelsee and the development of the Köpfwiesen. In particular, the supply of parts of the population through the gardens close to the city, outside the actual city fortifications, will be addressed during the tour. Who owned these gardens, whose earlier layout is still partially visible today? Who could afford a garden in the Köpfwiesen? What role did flooding events play?
