Experience Days: Demonstration of Woodworking with Dietmar Mechsner

Experience the fascinating world of woodworking at a hands-on event in the Forum Erlebnis: Holz. Wood designer Dietmar Mechsner demonstrates how to heat thin wooden boards using hot steam, allowing them to be bent into a round shape. A solid wood floor is incorporated into the ring shape. After the wood cools, the loose ends are riveted together with copper rivets, creating "shavings boxes." In addition, wood designer Dietmar Mechsner showcases more modern forms of wooden boxes that he has already presented at craft exhibitions in Baden-Württemberg. Mechsner has worked in various carpentry workshops in southern Germany before attending the master school in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. His professional experience is further complemented by studies at the Academy for Design in Aachen and experience in boat building in Flensburg. He has been living in Bernau for 30 years and runs a workshop for wood design.
