Special exhibition "Breisach says Yes" at the Museum of City History

The Museum of City History invites you to a special exhibition from July 9 to September 28, 2025, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first European referendum in Breisach am Rhein. Special exhibition "Breisach Says Yes" – 75 Years of the First European Referendum in Breisach am Rhein. 75 years ago, on July 9, 1950, the first public referendum in Europe on the establishment of a European federal state took place in Breisach. At that time, 95.6% of the citizens of the war-damaged border town, which was in the midst of reconstruction, expressed their support for the idea of a united Europe. With numerous documents, images, and the European flag presented to the city of Breisach by the Council of Europe in 1964, the Museum of City History commemorates the events of that time in a special exhibition.
