Niklas Goldbach photographed the spaces of the art hall one last time before the handover of the keys, when the collection had already been moved. From 2025 onwards, the transformation process of the Kunsthalle Karlsruhe will be accompanied year after year by artists who engage with the museum in their work in very individual ways. The results of their reflections will be presented in small exhibitions, accompanied by a series of publications. This year, the Berlin artist Niklas Goldbach, with his photographs under the title "Drift," and the Büchner Prize winner Arnold Stadler will kick off this project of ongoing engagement with the Kunsthalle, its history, present, and future. Goldbach photographed the spaces of the art hall one last time before the handover of the keys, when the collection had already been moved. Transport crates and a few relics remind us of works and past presentations, while traces of initial investigations into the building's substance become visible. The projected volume will include a text by the writer Arnold Stadler, who is not only an award-winning novelist but also a connoisseur of art and the Karlsruhe Kunsthalle.
