Day of Creation 2025

We will celebrate the Ecumenical Day of Creation in Sigmaringen on Sunday, September 28, 2025. As in previous years, we will hold a service at 11:00 AM on the Danube stage if the weather is good. After the service, ecological and sustainable initiatives and groups will present themselves. There will also be food, as well as coffee and drinks. The delegates' assembly of the 25 guest and member churches of the Community of Protestant Churches decided on the motto for the Ecumenical Day of Creation 2025 during their meeting in Mainz on September 23, 2024. It is: "God, You help people and animals." This motto references Psalm 36, which states: "O LORD, your mercy reaches to the heavens, and your truth to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep. O LORD, you preserve man and beast." (Luther translation) This highlights the prayerful character of the psalm and brings God, the active one, into focus. He helps those who are in distress. Furthermore, there is no distinction made between people and animals; they are on the same level. God helps all His creatures equally. People and animals share a common relationship with God, their Creator. In case of rain, the service will take place in the Catholic Church of St. Johann.
