Weingarten Season: Pierre-Laurent Aimard & Munich Radio Orchestra

"A brilliant musician and an extraordinary visionary" - Wall Street Journal Pierre-Laurent Aimard is an international authority not only among pianists but as a musician worldwide. He is renowned for his interpretations of contemporary piano music as well as works by Ludwig van Beethoven. His concert featuring Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto with the outstanding Munich Radio Orchestra is considered one of the absolute highlights of our region and beyond. The second part of the concert is dedicated to the French composer Georges Bizet, who is often not recognized in his full significance as a symphonic composer. His instrumental competence places him alongside his great French contemporaries, such as Berlioz and Ravel. Bizet became the epitome of Spanish music in the theater with his opera "Carmen." The Carmen Suite, released posthumously, succeeded in bringing the most beautiful pieces from the world's most performed opera into the concert hall.
