Weingarten Season: Lucas and Arthur Jussen & Alexej Gerassimez and Emil Kuyumcuyan

They are young and they are the best in their field: the piano duo Lucas & Arthur Jussen, along with percussionists Alexej Gerassimez and Emil Kuyumcuyan. When they come together, sparks fly, and they explore musical boundaries. Since their early years, the Jussen brothers have been an artistic duo. At the ages of ten and thirteen, the now world-famous pianists made their debut as a piano duo at the renowned Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Alexej Gerassimez, who at just 30 years old has succeeded the internationally celebrated percussion professor Peter Sadlo at the Munich University of Music, and the award-winning percussionist Emil Kuyumcuyan create a percussive counterpoint to the piano playing of the Jussen brothers. The four of them are already familiar with each other from previous tours. They are a well-rehearsed team, whose eagerness to experiment, sense of rhythm, and outstanding virtuosity promise a fireworks display of keys and drumsticks. In addition to original compositions for this extraordinary ensemble, the program also includes arrangements of repertoire classics such as the "Symphonic Dances" from Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story."
