Historical Fool Awakening on Schellenmendig Morning. One of the most spectacular parades out of the total of 12 in Wolfach is the "Wohlauf," the Fool Awakening in the early hours of Schellen Monday. In his rolling bed, the Wohlaufman is driven through the town, and at the spots where the night watchman used to sing, he performs his Wohlauflied. His companions are hundreds of fools in white nightgowns and pointed hats, who, with their noise-making instruments, make it clear to even the last sleeper that the Fasnet has reached its peak.
