Habsburg Weeks of the Restaurateurs

On the German and Swiss side from October 19 to November 3, 2024, the restaurateurs of Laufenburg take the Habsburg Weeks as an opportunity to delight their guests with culinary delicacies from Habsburg cuisine. In the participating establishments, guests will be served selected delicacies from the Habsburg Empire, which extended from Alsace through Northern Italy, Vorarlberg, and included Austria-Hungary. In addition to the culinary delights, the historical background also plays a significant role in this event. The history of the House of Habsburg is closely linked to the history of Laufenburg. The strategically and economically significant location of Laufenburg on the Rhine was developed into a fortified town by the Habsburg counts in the early Middle Ages. Until 1801, the bridge town belonged to Vorarlberg. Today, only remnants of the walls and a mighty keep from the Habsburg counts' castle remain on the Swiss side.
