Reading and discussion with actress and activist Gesine Cukrowski. In cooperation with the Women's Equality Office, City of Heilbronn. Gesine Cukrowski (1968) is one of the most prominent German TV and film actresses. She is known to the public from productions such as "Der letzte Zeuge," "Mordach," and "Hotel Mondial," but few are aware of her special commitment to helping others. In 2023, Cukrowski, together with Silke Burmester (Palais F luxx), founded the initiative "Let’s change the picture" to increase the visibility of women over 47 in German film and television. For her diverse and long-standing international commitment to women's and equality politics, Cukrowski was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in March 2025. Using the example of female role clichés in film and television, Gesine Cukrowski provides us with exciting insights in her book debut "Sorry, Tarzan, I Save Myself" into a world where star appeal and (young) female bodies are instrumentalized. The author shows how the male gaze through film cameras profoundly influences our lives and our patriarchally shaped role assignments. True to the motto "Women have no expiration date - but clichés do," Cukrowski dispels all the myths and clichés that we have comfortably settled into over many decades. In cooperation with the Women's Equality Office, City of Heilbronn.
