Freiburg Senior Citizens Salon Orchestra

With a matinee, the Freiburg Senior Salon Orchestra continues its performances at the Kurhaus Bad Krozingen. This year, the focus is on salon music in transition – from the Fin de Siècle to the Golden Twenties. The FSSO aims to make audible the significant changes that occurred in music alongside the social and political upheavals around the year 1914: from the sensitivity of late Romantic music to the revolutionary Threepenny Opera, from classical music to dance and entertainment music, and finally to jazz, from the beginnings in bourgeois salons to public events. Since its founding in 1989, following an initiative by the state government on the theme of "Artistic Expression in Advanced Age," the FSSO has brought together up to 30 musicians aged between 40 and over 90 years. Since 2001, under the direction of Gottfried Schrägle, they have been making music weekly. New participants are always welcome. Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays at 8 PM at the Jazz & Rock School in Freiburg.
