Heinrich-Ulmann-Platz, 79206 Breisach am Rhein

Historical Juggler Days of the Breisach Narren, featuring a cheerful and colorful program filled with wit and the charm of the typical "Brisacher Fasent." Unique in the Alemannic Carnival, the Breisach Juggler Day takes place on Fasent Sunday and Tuesday (February 15 and 17, 2026) at Heinrich-Ulmann-Platz. It is based on a historical event, and thus there is no prince and princess in Breisach, but rather an imperial couple. This refers to "Emperor" Rudolf of Habsburg and his wife. Rudolf of Habsburg stayed in Breisach in 1275 and granted the city a new city charter. At the same time, Breisach received from him the privileges to hold Juggler Days. These privileges are ceremoniously confirmed each year during the "Fasent" – as it is called in Breisach – by the imperial couple. In honor of the patron, a ceremonial procession and a historical segment are performed at Heinrich-Ulmann-Platz at the beginning of the Juggler Day, which includes the traditional Dreyertanz and juggler dances, as well as the dance of the Hochstetter Panduren and the guard dance of the Kaiser Hussars. In addition to this historical segment, the Breisach Narren offer their audience a cheerful and colorful program filled with wit and the charm of the typical "Brisacher Fasent." Another special feature of Breisach is the Narren greeting. It goes "Schmecksch dr Brägel," to which the greeted person responds with "Ajoo."
