Our ancestors lived in trees. Over a long period, we learned to utilize the resources of trees: from the fruits, the bark, to the wood for fire and construction. We use it and plant it. Today, we also find trees beautiful, glorifying them as something ideal, even though we influence them ourselves through breeding and environmental factors. They have long held a place in art history, whether as a symbol of life itself or as a raw material for sculpture. The sculptor Wolfgang Schaller impressively demonstrates how the material is brought to new life and offers woodcut courses. The photographer Emília Horpácsi participates with images of trees in different habitats and explores the tree in the urban area through her photo walk. The painter Markus Wilke draws inspiration from storm-tossed forests, showcasing the interaction between humans and nature.
