In the footsteps of Christoph von Schmid

Christoph von Schmid is the author of the world-famous Christmas carol "Ihr Kinderlein kommet" and many well-known church hymns. Christoph von Schmid served as the pastor of Oberstadion from 1816 to 1827. He is the author of the Christmas song "Ihr Kinderlein kommet..." and many other church hymns. As a children's and youth book author, he became world-renowned, and his books have been translated into over 25 languages. In his honor, a memorial has been established in the historic town hall of Oberstadion. Visitors can expect lovingly designed nativity scenes with audio stations and information about his life and works. We guide small groups through the Christoph von Schmid memorial and tailor the tours to all age groups, needs, or disabilities. The memorial is not barrier-free.
