Spa Concert - Kathrin Beddig "Classics Meet Rock"

The classical flutist and composer Kathrin Beddig begins her concert with two "best-of" selections from older and newer classical rock programs, in which she shares her initial approaches and the sonic fascination that comes with the combination of such contrasting styles. She symbolically represents the emotional "standpoint of courage" with rock music: the courage to grow beyond oneself. The main part of the program was developed with the help of a scholarship from the state of Baden-Württemberg: Kathrin Beddig set out to write a rock music program for drums, piano, and flutes for a "mini-band," whose protagonists are all portrayed by her. The common thread: reconciling classical and rock music is akin to the encounter of different generations. With her music for "Classical Meets Rock," Beddig captures moments experienced by parents with their children or by individuals themselves throughout their lives.
