Jochen Eckart demonstrates how sustainable mobility can contribute to quality of life and climate protection. The focus is on environmentally friendly traffic planning, societal acceptance, and concrete measures for future-proof cities. In our current KLIMA Forum, Prof. Dr. Jochen Eckart from Karlsruhe University provides insights into how more sustainable mobility can enhance our quality of life while simultaneously protecting the environment. This involves more than just technology – the central question is how mobility can be designed to meet people's needs without exceeding the ecological limits of our planet. While our current transportation system ensures high mobility, it also causes significant environmental impacts – such as greenhouse gas emissions and noise. The challenge lies in improving the compatibility of traffic so that it can actively contribute to sustainable and livable communities. In his lecture, Prof. Eckart shows what concrete measures are necessary to make mobility more environmentally friendly. He also discusses how societal acceptance for changes can be fostered – as a foundation for future-proof cities and effective climate protection. The event takes place in the premises of the KLIMA ARENA. Prof. Dr. Jochen Eckart is a professor of traffic ecology at Karlsruhe University. In research and teaching, he focuses on sustainable urban traffic planning, the promotion of active mobility, and adaptations to climate change. His particular concern is the connection between environmental sciences and traffic planning. He earned his doctorate in "Civil and Environmental Engineering" at the University of South Florida. He obtained his degree in "Spatial and Environmental Planning" at the University of Kaiserslautern. Prof. Eckart has an international profile with positions at universities in Tampa (USA), Birmingham (UK), and Hamburg.
