Lecture: Tinnitus and Globus

Noise in the ear and a lump in the throat - what are the medical conditions of tinnitus and globus, and what are their causes? Dr. med. Heimo Haug will explain the two medical conditions in detail in his lecture and provide an overview of the causes, as well as show treatment options. In tinnitus, the patient suffers from ear noises that seem to come from outside but actually originate in the ear or further centrally, often occurring in connection with hearing loss. In the case of globus, there is a sensation of having a lump or foreign body stuck in the throat. This often leads to the urge to swallow or clear the throat. The speaker will explain the two medical conditions in detail and provide an overview of the causes. Diagnostic possibilities and psychosomatic connections of these complaints will be discussed. Afterwards, behavioral measures and treatment options will be presented. After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to ask the speaker questions.
