Festive New Year's Concert

Sebastian Krystek (trumpet) and Michael Saum (organ) will perform the annual festive New Year's concert featuring works from various centuries. Sebastian Krystek studied trumpet at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart under Prof. Wolfgang Bauer. Even before his studies, he played in ensembles such as the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Young German Philharmonic, and the Young German Brass Soloists under Prof. Walter Hilgers. During the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons, he was an academy musician with the Zurich Opera Orchestra, where he performed under conductors such as Franz Welser-Möst, Zubin Mehta, Christoph von Dohnányi, and John Eliot Gardiner. Since 2007, he has been the 3rd/1st trumpet of the Badische Philharmonie Pforzheim. His freelance work regularly takes him to the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, and the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig. Sebastian Krystek is also frequently heard as a soloist in various settings, including duos with organ, with different orchestras, and as the principal of the Brass Band Hessen.
