Reformation A musical Vespers with the Tübingen Choralschola under the direction of Prof. Dr. Stefan Morent. Music from various medieval reform monasteries as well as from the early years of Protestant churches. Vespers liturgy from the Gotteslob. The Gregorian chant specialists with the complicated name "Choralschola at the Musicology Institute of the University of Tübingen," led by Professor Dr. Stefan Morent, have been guests in Hirsau several times. They have always been able to prove that they do not perform music in an overly academic manner, but rather understand how to bring the music of the Middle Ages and the early modern period to life in as authentic a form as possible. In a musical Vespers at the Aurelius Church, they will present various spiritual reform movements and their chants on Sunday, September 27, at 7 PM. In addition to the well-known Hirsau monastery reform, there were other movements in the Middle Ages with their own musical characteristics. The Protestant churches of the 16th century were not "the Reformation" but a variety of different musical styles and theological objectives. Thus, both the artfully crafted Gregorian melodies and church songs borrowed from the popular music of the time will be heard in German, Latin, and French. The audience will be drawn into the simultaneously spiritual and meditative atmosphere of this very special church space through parts of the Vespers liturgy from the Gotteslob. William Roberts and Samuel Schick, two former Calw choir boys, will also sing with the Schola that evening. The spiritual leadership is provided by Andrea Bolz; admission is free.
