Bebelaar – Godard – Cagwin – Kroll – Beck: Pantheon

OPENING CONCERT of the Jazz & Classical Days Tübingen 2025 Patrick Bebelaar has reworked his piece "Pantheon" (commissioned by the International Bach Academy, 2005) for his current quintet and brought it to the stage. The composition is based on Bach's Mass in B minor, adopting its structure and stylistic elements, but musically takes its own path. Bebelaar integrates melodies from various world religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and African traditional religions) and thus creates a peaceful coexistence of different cultures – an artistic statement that is more relevant today than ever. Saxophonist Frank Kroll and tuba player Michel Godard are long-time companions. Jarrod Cagwin accompanies the journey through cultures with an arsenal of drums and percussion. "Pantheon" has been performed, among others, at the Bach Festival Stuttgart and the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival.
