Science Slam Lake Constance

ScienceSlam - the rock concert of science. In a ScienceSlam, scientists, researchers, and university graduates present their findings in an entertaining way on stage. They have a maximum of 10 minutes to captivate the audience. The audience decides who can explain their research the best and gets to take home the glass brain at the end. Anything goes, from PowerPoint presentations to live experiments, music, or dance. This way, even non-expert audiences gain an exclusive and understandable insight into current research projects and definitely enjoy an entertaining evening. So far, the following participants have confirmed their attendance: Jasmin Barman-Aksözen - When molecular biology meets the Middle Ages: Bloodletting for the treatment of a rare genetic defect - During her dissertation on a rare congenital disorder in blood formation, Jasmin Barman-Aksözen discovers a nonsensical effect: an iron deficiency that should not be treated with iron. Instead of focusing on more promising research projects, she asks patients about their experiences, combs through the literature, and formulates a bold hypothesis: It should be possible to help those affected through bloodletting! Initially laughed at by colleagues as an idea influenced by too much mead, the big moment to test the hypothesis comes when a patient with acute liver damage signs up for a consultation.
