Praise and (Harvest) Thanks - Choir Concert with the Limpurger Chamber Choir

Music from the Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary periods - fitting for the season with motets and choral pieces on the theme of "Praise and (Harvest) Thanksgiving." Given the current state of the world, more reflective melodies will also be heard. Joseph Haydn's "From the Song of Thanks to God" will be performed. The Jewish composer Luis Lewandowski has set Psalm 100 in a very vivid and almost fanfare-like manner. A special highlight will be the choral arrangement of the song "Was keiner wagt" by Konstantin Wecker. The seemingly harmless motet "Lobe den Herren" by Hugo Distler takes on a new aspect when one knows that it was composed in 1933, immediately after the Nazis came to power, and - even in its musical language - clearly expresses that "the King of Glory" stands above the rulers of this world. This can be directly applied to today's times. Contemporary music will be represented by works from lesser-known composers in Germany, such as Jay Althouse (USA) and Nobuaki Izawa (Japan). Additionally, the Ukrainian Our Father "Otche Nash" by the Latvian composer Rihards Dubra from 2022 will be performed again at multiple requests.
