Discover the Jewish Cultural Trail in Braunsbach: Nine stations commemorate the centuries-old Jewish community, its trade, and its life. The synagogue, cemetery, and rabbinical building tell stories of diversity, history, and coexistence in Hohenlohe. Are you interested in cultural diversity, historical contexts, and new perspectives on regional identity? Then a visit to Braunsbach is worthwhile – a place that has much more to tell than one might suspect at first glance. Under the protection of the Lords of Crailsheim, a Jewish community was established here in the early 17th century, which shaped life in the town for centuries. The Jewish families, primarily engaged in trade, were closely linked to the economic and cultural transformation of the region around the Kocher, Jagst, and Tauber rivers. From 1834, Braunsbach even became the seat of the district rabbi for the entire present-day district of Schwäbisch Hall. The exchange with other Jewish communities, international trade, and family networks brought fresh impulses – not only for the Jewish population but also for the Christian community in the area. Today, the Jewish Cultural Trail in Braunsbach commemorates this dynamic history. At nine stations, you can discover places that tell of Jewish life: the former synagogue, the rabbinical building, residential houses, and the Jewish cemetery invite you to pause, reflect, and ask further questions. Take your time for this journey. For the history. And for new perspectives on a piece of Hohenlohe that touches the heart.
