"Stage Fright in the Markgräflerland": Lady Windermere's Fan

New Amateur Theater "Stage Fright in Markgräflerland" – Kicking off with "Lady Windermere's Fan" by Oscar Wilde In autumn 2024, Christoph Kern from Staufen, in cooperation with the Volkshochschule Markgräflerland, initiated an amateur theater group. With great enthusiasm and a large dose of passion, the ensemble "Stage Fright – Theater in Markgräflerland" was founded, aiming to secure a firm place in the cultural life of the region with high-quality productions. Oscar Wilde's classic "Lady Windermere's Fan" was chosen as the inaugural performance. The play, written in 1892, is a witty comedy about morality, gender issues, and societal constraints in Victorian England. The central character is Lady Windermere, whose marriage is threatened by her husband's supposed affair. "Our ensemble consists of dedicated amateurs who are working on this project with great joy and passion. Many already have stage experience and are looking forward to finally applying it in Markgräflerland. It requires a lot of sensitivity and precise direction, but we are convinced that our ensemble will rise to the challenge," explains the group's director, Christoph Kern. What makes this project special is not only the choice of the play but also the holistic approach that the theater group "Stage Fright" pursues. In recent months, the group has not only been rehearsing but has also collaboratively built the set, costumes, lighting, public relations, and, last but not least, the financial foundation. Every hand in the team is needed and contributes to the success of the project. The performances of "Lady Windermere's Fan" will take place in the Römerberghalle in Müllheim-Niederweiler. The premiere is scheduled for Saturday, November 1 at 7:00 PM, with additional performances on November 2 (6:00 PM), November 8 (7:00 PM), and November 9, 2025 (6:00 PM).
