In their historical uniforms, they accompanied the procession with music and salute shots. The Bürgermiliz Sipplingen e.V. is not a military association, but rather a historical one that can look back on a very long history and has set itself the goal of preserving local customs. The Bürgermiliz today consists of three departments: a marching band, a militia band, and a team under arms. Its historical origin lies in the Baden Revolution, which reached its peak in May 1849. A lush and colorful carpet of flowers adorns our village on Corpus Christi. The idea for this type of procession on Corpus Christi originated with a clergyman in the 1920s. On the evening before the big feast day, the entire Sipplingen Bürgermiliz gathers at 10 PM with music and armed personnel to celebrate the grand tattoo in the festively illuminated town square. On Corpus Christi itself, the population is awakened by cannon shots. The creation of the flower carpet is a community experience, often involving not only the families of the local streets but also holiday guests. There are also four altar stations adorned with flowers, where the Gospels are read. At 9 AM, there is a festive service at the Catholic Church of St. Martin and St. George, followed by the Corpus Christi procession along the flower carpet. At 2 PM, there is a thanksgiving service followed by a parade and salute shots from the Bürgermiliz at the town square.
