24th Steinach Pencil and Christmas Market

Every year on the second Advent weekend, the Griffel and Christmas Market takes place in Steinach. The Christmas market awaits you in the marketplace with a festively decorated Christmas tree and a fantastic program. Experience a cozy atmosphere with various delicious hot beverages and indulge your palate with tasty treats. Alongside crackling fires and festive sounds, you will be prepared for the upcoming season of reflection. You can reach the German Slate Museum by horse-drawn carriage. Here, you will find the entire range of slate products, from slate tablets with styluses to jewelry. The "Gray Stone" has shaped the history and appearance of the town. Steinach has become world-renowned as a producer of styluses. In the 400-year history of slate stylus production, 28 to 30 billion of these slender writing tools have been shipped worldwide. "Steinacher Griffel" were the best! Also worth seeing is our nativity scene with life-sized figures in the castle courtyard, crafted during a sculptor symposium. The figures were modeled after those made by the Marolin company, which has been producing nativity figures in the traditional way from papier-mâché for over 100 years. Afterwards, you can leisurely stroll through the festively decorated Dr.-Max-Volk-Street to purchase the last Christmas gifts in the open shops before ending your day at the marketplace with a delicious hot drink by the fire.
