The dance and spoken theater piece questions the meaning of life. Does the meaning of life have an inclusive, technological, human, robotic, and natural dimension? Can we find it through speaking, singing, and dancing, even when chaos reigns in and around us? In this tragicomedy, set against the backdrop of a world at war, young people with and without disabilities, together with AI robots, search for a refuge to breathe in a robot factory. Outside, bombs are falling — inside, everything seems different. Gradually, it becomes clear why they all come together there. A piece written, directed, and choreographed by Grégory Darcy. The dance company he founded, the Esslinger Tanzkompanie, is the first professional ensemble in southern Germany with dancers both with and without disabilities. In 2019, it was awarded the prestigious art prize "The Power of the Arts." It creates a space "where theater, dance, and music ride the crest of an inclusive wave, where crash and hope lie very close together." In 2023, it captivated audiences at Science & Theatre with "Human Design." In "The Meaning of Life," it dances and performs with youth from the Rohräckerschule Esslingen to the music of Echo Jazz award winner Johanna Borchert. Supported by the City of Esslingen, NEURA Robotics, Eberhard Rommel Foundation, Culture Center Dieselstrasse, and the Future Foundation Hans Weiler.
