On Saturday, October 18, from 8 PM to 11 PM, the Jazzinitiative Schwetzingen e.V. will host the popular pub jazz around the Schlossplatz as part of the Schwetzinger Jazztage. The program can be enjoyed free of charge and offers a wide variety. The venues are not far apart and invite guests to stroll between the locations with their high-quality concerts. K.J. Dallaway & Friends: KJ Dallaway and Friends look forward to welcoming guests at Quadrato (Carl-Theodor-Str. 5) and will present a diverse musical cocktail of melodic jazz tunes, unforgettable evergreens, and ballads. Of course, Calypso, Soca, and Reggae from Trinidad and Tobago, the trumpeter's homeland, are an absolute must and pleasure. Guests will hear cover songs as well as original compositions by the bandleader. The Friends include: Ray Mahumane (g), Hans Heer (b), Peter Römpert (d), Michael Quast (p), and Monika Krüchten (v). The 2 Grazien: With a guitar in their suitcase, percussion in their hand luggage, and expressive voices, "The 2 Grazien," Sybille Fändrich and Ulrike Scherb, present their current program at Havanna (Mannheimer Str. 26). "A Sentimental Journey" is an entertaining cocktail of original and creatively covered songs. Heart, wit, and rustic charm are the substantial provisions for this musical journey. Early April: At Aposto (Schlossplatz 7), soul meets sunny vibes! Fresh, playful, and full of energy: Early April brings soul, funk, and nu-jazz to the stage in a modern guise. Their music? Warm, bright sounds that pamper body and mind—like the first spring day after a long, cold winter. With a lot of feeling and groove, the passionate musicians create a soundscape that invites dancing while also touching deeply. Ignez Carvalho Trio: Ignez Carvalho (Guitar, Vocal) brings authentic music from her home country of Brazil to the Welde-Brauhaus (Mannheimer Str. 2) with her trio Christoph Stadler (Guitar) and Ricardo Espinosa (Percussion). In addition to her own compositions, the trio plays well-known standards of Bossa Nova, Samba, choros, and baiao. Wolfgang van Göns Trio feat. Astrid Tischmeyer: At Grünen Baum (Carl-Theodor-Str. 2), the trio featuring the two musicians from Hockenheim, Wolfgang van Göns on piano and Hans Grieb on double bass, along with drummer Walter Helbig from Viernheim, will perform. The trio is once again joined by singer Astrid Tischmeyer, who loves the stylistic shifts as well as playing with her voice between worlds and genres. This lineup will present compositions by Chick Corea and Irving Berlin, as well as songs by Jamie Cullum, Peter Gabriel, Prince, and John Lennon/Paul McCartney. Some well-known pieces will be heard in new arrangements. Carl Krämer Quartett: This quartet consists of the four instructors of the workshop that also takes place as part of the Jazztage: the American guitarist Kevin Holloway, the Cypriot electric bassist Neophytos Stefanou, the Freiburg drummer Luis Emmerling, and the saxophonist Carl Krämer from the Taunus region. Each of them brings their own pieces to the quartet. The compositions of the four offer a wide spectrum from blues to avant-garde, but are reinterpreted and staged in a new and unique way through the sound of the quartet. The audience at Trattoria Sicilia (Dreikönigstr. 6) can look forward to it.
