Discussion at Heilbronn University with former Member of Parliament and Heilbronn resident Josip Juratovic and city councilor Isabell Steidel about resilient democracy and its current challenges, as well as political engagement in everyday life.
On the occasion of the 1st Democracy Day at Heilbronn University, the discussion "For an Open Society: Participation, Engagement, and the Future of Democracy" will take place. Guests include the Heilbronn politician and former Member of Parliament Josip Juratovic and city councilor Isabell Steidel. The evening will be moderated by Haller editor Tobias Würth.
Where: Auditorium at the TechCampus of Heilbronn University.
Democracy thrives on participation and is never "finished," because "those who sleep in democracy will wake up in dictatorship" (Josip Juratovic). It only works as well as we all carry and defend it in our daily lives. That is why we must ask: Where is there still debate today, and where is compromise practiced? How can citizens take responsibility instead of just expressing discontent? When must democracy be resilient, and what does that mean in concrete terms?
With the event series "For an Open Society," Heilbronn University offers a space where current social issues can be discussed and where there is room for debate for an open, diverse, and just society. The evening is aimed at everyone who is eager for debate, cares about democracy, and wants to develop positive visions together.
