The wine press, which is available to all 60 members of the cooperative, is, in a sense, the center of Tübingen's wine life. In front of the historic wine press, the winegrowers' cooperative traditionally invites guests to a convivial gathering at the Kelternplatz. A wide range of fine wines from the slopes around the city adds to the good atmosphere. Food and drink are also well provided for. In addition to traditional varieties such as Kerner, Müller-Thurgau, and Schwarzriesling, wines from younger vines are also produced around Tübingen, whose high resistance to fungus makes the use of pesticides almost unnecessary. These include Cabernet Blanc, Johanniter, Souvignier Gris, Muscaris, Regent, Cabernet Cantor, and Cabernet Jura. However, the location of most vineyards in nature reserves or landscape conservation areas also goes hand in hand with a more conscious use of pesticides. The viticulture around Tübingen is impressive! In addition to the wines, visitors can enjoy pizza, pulled pork burgers, and vegetarian or meat tarte flambée (all from the wood-fired oven), chili and curry bockwurst in bread dough, and stick bread.
