Eschwege Johannis Festival

The festival will be announced on Thursday by a Johannisfest rider with a bright fanfare sound. The "Festival of Joy" begins. The official opening by the mayor and the festival host will also take place on Thursday evening.

On Friday afternoon, the showmen have invited families to the festival grounds starting at 3:00 PM for a family day. Visitors, both young and old, can experience the festival grounds at reduced prices. On Friday evening, starting at 6:00 PM, visitors from near and far will crowd the streets and alleys of the city center alongside the festival activities until Saturday morning at 2:00 AM. Numerous music groups will play for everyone's taste, and food and drinks will be well provided.

The actual core of the festival is the May procession on Saturday, when students carry fresh birch branches into the city, creating the impression of a walking forest in the marketplace. On Saturday afternoon, the festivities at the Werdchen festival grounds will begin with numerous rides, stalls, and in the festival tent. Dancing will be possible in the festival tent starting at 8:00 PM.

Sunday is dedicated to the grand parade, which will be decorated by the students according to the theme set by the Johannisfest committee in spring. The goal of the parade is the festival grounds, where the showmen will open their stalls after the parade arrives.

Monday is primarily a meeting point for locals in the festival tent, and on Monday evening, visitors can take advantage of the offerings at the festival grounds one last time before the festival of Eschwege concludes with a grand fireworks display.
