Concert: ON THE MOVE

‘ON THE MOVE’ is the motto of a spontaneously created, jazzy project, conceived in 2019 for a friend, by Andrea Rehm, Martin Giebel, Heiner Merk, and William Widmann. All four are well-known and well-coordinated musicians and a singer in the jazz scene around Lake Constance. It is a musical journey through the American continent: the music that our fathers and mothers discovered as liberating from the USA in the post-war period, a music that, especially with swing, brought back the long-awaited lightness to life, transformed in the following decades into a multitude of musical genres. As vast as the dimensions and distances of this country are, so rich and inexhaustible are the musical traces and influences that we have so far positively perceived as ‘American.’ The four playfully embrace these positive currents and seek their own understanding and feelings about them in their interpretations.
