Marktplatz 9, 75365 Calw

The Calw marketplace, with its wonderful historical backdrop, is one of the most delightful places to get into the Advent spirit. Fairy-tale Calw When the entire half-timbered ensemble shines in romantic lights and the scent of mulled wine and freshly baked treats wafts through the old town, a stroll along the lovingly decorated Christmas houses becomes a truly special experience. Over 80 stalls will be set up in the open area, as well as an artisan market in the music school hall and a traditional Christmas café, all beautifully decorated on the marketplace and in the surrounding streets and adjacent buildings. There, you can find goods such as wooden figures, nativity scenes, wreaths, chocolate, sausage and cheese specialties, roasted almonds, cookie cutters, and much more. Culinary delights include bratwurst, langos, crêpes, potato noodles, dumplings - and of course, mulled wine, tea, or coffee. Here too, the variety knows no bounds. Music will play at various locations to entertain visitors. Among those performing are the city and youth band of Calw, the Altburg folk band, the Stammheim music association, Stimm3, reVocali, and many other acts. On Friday evening, a DJ will host a winter party - dancing is encouraged. The program booklet with all information, special features, the accompanying program, additional activities, as well as the offered goods and treats can be found here.

Traditions and activities around the Christmas market The Christmas café in the town hall foyer invites you to enjoy delights for the soul and ears. The Advent artisan market will again take place in the music school hall. With the baking of bear paws for a good cause, an old tradition continues in Calw. These treats are a special delight - and for a good cause. A highlight is the Calw Springerle mold, which features a prominent building as its motif each year. For the grand city anniversary celebrating 950 years of Calw, the already sold-out molds "City Church," "Town Hall," and "St. Nicholas Chapel / Nicholas Bridge" will be reissued. A festive city walk with a view from a high path over the historic old town or a climb up the church tower of the city church will immerse visitors in a magical Advent atmosphere. There is also plenty for children: In the Angel Post, children can write their wish lists. Because Calw also has a "hotline" directly to the Christ Child. A cozy Advent lounge invites visitors to enjoy stick bread by the campfire. In addition to a children's carousel, a train, and an alpaca petting zoo, the little ones can craft, paint, and listen to stories. And of course, a visit from St. Nicholas is a must. New this year is the Gnome Garden: in the newly created city garden, a whimsical, lovingly designed place is emerging, allowing visitors to dive into a magical world filled with little gnome figures, houses, and other creative elements. Schools, kindergartens, clubs, families, and local artists create a colorful and lively atmosphere that enchants both young and old and makes the anticipation for the Christmas season tangible in a special way.

Market hours:
Thursday, November 27: 3 PM - 9 PM
Friday, November 28: 11 AM - 9 PM
Saturday, November 29: 11 AM - 9 PM
Sunday, November 30: 11 AM - 6 PM

Altered traffic regulations due to the Christmas market In connection with the Calw Christmas market and the setup and dismantling work in the days before and after the market, there will be restrictions and road and parking closures in the downtown area. This affects the marketplace, Marktstraße, parts of Salzgasse and Altburger Straße, as well as the area in front of the Hermann Hesse Museum. Temporary restrictions in the mentioned streets are expected starting Monday, November 17: the axes Marktstraße - Marktplatz - Salzgasse and Altburger Straße - Marktplatz - Postgasse will be partially closed on weekdays from 7 AM to 4 PM. Detours to the streets Am Schießberg, Im Zwinger, and Hermann-Haffner-Straße will be made via Badstraße and Metzgergasse or via Schillerstraße. The barrier in Schillerstraße will be open during the mentioned period, and one-way street regulations will be partially lifted. Access from Marktbrücke to Lederstraße, for example, to the Calwer Markt parking garage, is also possible during the market activities. Access to the streets Torgasse, Biergasse, Nonnengasse, and Postgasse will be via Untere Ledereck.

Weekly market relocation The weekly market will be relocated to Lederstraße on November 22 and 29: the stalls with fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, cheese specialties, antipasti, meat and sausage products, and much more will be found on these two days in the area between Hörgeräte Geers and the AOK office.
