Nabada = bathing down the Danube and is the traditional water parade on Swearing Monday. From the Iller Bridge to Friedrichsau, you can watch themed boats, rafts, inflatable boats, and much more during a water battle, or you can take the plunge into the cool water yourself. After the traditional swearing ceremony (11 a.m.) at the Weinhof on the morning of 'Swearing Monday', the 'Nabada' takes place in the afternoon. Starting around 4 p.m., the colorful water parade begins on the Danube (by the way, 'Nabada' means bathing down the Danube). Several themed boats, elaborately designed by clubs and other groups, similar to the Rhineland Carnival, poke fun at current politics. The themed boats are accompanied by swaying ships with music bands that play lively songs (after all, the audience votes for the best music act using ballots). In addition to the official themed boats, many wild 'water rats' also plunge into the cool water with their own adventurous constructions and paddle the approximately 7 km stretch down the Danube. The wet and cheerful conclusion of the day takes place in Friedrichsau and in many squares of the city center and old town with live music and parties.
