Hauptstraße, 88630 Pfullendorf
When the marketplace awakens to a sparkling Christmas village and the scent of mulled wine and roasted almonds wafts through the old town, it is once again time for the Pfullendorf Advent Magic. Traditionally, the Pfullendorf Advent Magic opens its doors on the weekend of the second Advent, on Friday, December 5, and Saturday, December 6. The festively decorated and lovingly adorned stalls not only provide visitors with mulled wine, punch, and fragrant waffles or roasted almonds. Handcrafted items such as knitted socks, sewn trinkets, handmade Christmas decorations, and fragrant beeswax products are also popular. At the 18 stalls around the marketplace, there is plenty to discover, browse, and taste. While classics like a real red sausage or a fruity curry sausage are a must, you can also find Langosch or Baumstriezel, as well as hot Hugo, white mulled wine, or a cold blonde beer. The Advent Magic is traditionally supported by numerous Pfullendorf clubs, school classes, and dedicated artisans – a vibrant community project that has been creating a unique atmosphere for years. This year, among others, the SV Denkingen, the DRK local association Pfullendorf, the Kehlbach Frogs from Gaisweiler, the FC Aramäer, the SC Pfullendorf, the gymnastics club, and the Transylvanian Saxon customs association are contributing to the well-being of the visitors. Classes from the Sechslinden School, the secondary school, and the Staufer Gymnasium are also involved. Schmauder's Schnapslädele provides high-proof spirits, and a team from the Barfüßer microbrewery brings hearty specialties like winter beer or roast pork sandwiches to the Christmas market.
A program full of premieres and emotions
The Advent Magic starts on Friday at 4 PM, with the stage program beginning at 6 PM. The opening act is the Aach-Linz youth stage with the play "The Secret of the Snow Globe" – a winter story brought to the stage with much wit and heart by 13 young actors. At 7 PM, the Pfullendorf Citizen Foundation will present its traditional donation checks to local institutions and projects. Immediately afterward, the Linzgau Blächs from the city music forum will take the stage and invite the audience to join in a festive Advent sing-along – a musical moment to which all visitors are warmly invited.
Saturday: Stories, music – and the unique descent of the angels
As early as 3:30 PM, the World Shop invites you to a cozy reading hour: Elvira Mießner reads fairy tales and stories for the winter season, musically accompanied by flutist Uta Follert. Admission is free, and donations for projects in Burkina Faso are welcome. From 4 PM, the market stalls will also open their doors. The highlight of the evening is the traditional descent of the angels – a premiere in a new form, as it will be artistically framed for the first time by students from the Kloster Wald boarding school. The Pfullendorf descent of the angels is a performance known far beyond the city limits and brings sparkling eyes to children every year. Following this, the Pfullendorf Angel will be awarded – a distinction for special services in volunteer work. Who will receive the coveted honor this year remains a secret until then.
Enjoy sustainably – thanks to a reusable system
A special advantage of the Pfullendorf Advent Magic: For years, there has been a complete ban on disposable cups. A team from the volunteer fire department Aach-Linz manages the central washing station and ensures that mulled wine, punch, and more can be enjoyed with a clear conscience. Conveniently, at each stall, the cup can be returned and refilled. Those who want to make their journey ecological and practical can use the special train from the Räuberbahn. A historic rail train brings visitors from the direction of Aulendorf to the Christmas markets in Ostrach and Pfullendorf.
