About us:
In what we who live here consider to be the most beautiful village in Germany, the Harvest and Wine Festival in Sasbachwalden takes place every year on the first weekend of October.
Over the years, the festival has grown into a major event known far beyond the region. Many groups and bands, but above all the numerous flower-adorned parade floats, delight guests from near and far—not to mention our Wine Queen with her princesses and our Wine God Bacchus with his Bacchantes.
What makes our wine festival so special?
As a traditional wine-growing and fruit-growing community, the decision was made in 1949 to organize a Harvest and Wine Festival. For the people of Sasbachwalden, this wine festival is the highlight of the year. Over the years, the festival has grown into a major event known far beyond the region’s borders, with the highlight being the parade held on the first Sunday in October. Thanks to the tremendous dedication of all the village’s clubs and institutions, it is possible to organize such a large-scale festival at all. That is why the Wine Festival Association was formed over time, headed by the Festival President and Festival Host.
The festival president is the current mayor, Sonja Schuchter.
