The sold grandfather

Rural Grotesque by Anton Hamik Premiere: January 5, 2024 The grandfather lives on the farm of his son-in-law, who has all sorts of troubles with him and the financial situation on the farm. Now the maid is quitting as well, unable to endure the grandfather's insolence any longer. Should they get rid of the old man? Meanwhile, a wealthy horse dealer is trying to marry his daughter off to the son of the farm, which is surprising but could at least alleviate the debt burden. However, the son is by no means willing to agree, as he doesn't even know the bride. The horse dealer is not acting out of altruism; he has heard that the grandfather supposedly owns two houses, and so he persuades the farmer to let him have the grandfather for a small sum. He hopes to inherit the estate after the grandfather's passing. However, he has not counted on the clever old gentleman. The folk comedy is a fireworks display of witty punchlines and humorous twists. The center of the play is the agile and quick-witted grandfather. He is well-equipped for nearly every situation, never at a loss for words, always ready with a cheeky remark, and to everyone's surprise, he holds the strings and always has one more trump card up his sleeve.
