Atmospheric Market for the Whole Family
When the delightful scent of cookies and mulled wine wafts through the monastery courtyard, the Christmas market in Maulbronn is back. On Saturday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, over 100 festively decorated stalls will be set up against the beautiful backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Maulbronn Monastery. At more than two-thirds of the stalls, wooden and handcrafted items, floral arrangements, nativity scenes, jewelry, toys, and other artisanal crafts contribute to the high quality of the market. Thanks to a diverse and typically festive culinary offering—such as bratwurst, potato noodles, vegetable rice stir-fry, lentil curry, flame-grilled salmon, Maultaschen (German dumplings), and wild goulash, to name just a few—visitors can also indulge their appetites. Meanwhile, mulled wine, children's tea, and punch warm the soul from within. The Evangelical Seminary Maulbronn invites guests to enjoy soup, punch, and handmade surprises in the cellar of the monastery mill. Music and singing groups will provide a festive program on both days. Christmas carols can be heard and sung at various spots throughout the market. Fairy tales and stories from around the world offer both young and old Christmas market visitors (un)winding moments and a chance to warm up. Guided tours of the monastery will also be offered during the market, and the literature museum in the information center of the monastery will be open on both days.
Fairy Tale Time and a Visit from St. Nicholas
Enchanting fairy tales and stories from around the world invite young and old visitors to the Christmas market to enjoy (un)winding moments—while also providing a welcome opportunity to warm up. The fairy tale sessions will take place on both days at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM in the building Klosterhof 20/2. Each storytelling session lasts about 45 minutes. On Saturday, between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM, St. Nicholas will make an appearance at the Christmas market, bringing small gifts for the children.
